There are 369 Rural Schools is Sarawak that are using expensive diesel generators. These Generators are not only harmful to the environment, but are costly to maintain. Supply of the diesel itself is priced highly due to the remoteness of the schools. However, the Ministry of Education (Malaysia), has started a program to replace these 369 schools generators to a clean, renewable solar energy solution.
QEOS, together with its Contract Holder, JEPAK Holdings Sdn Bhd is now spearheading the project. We want Malaysia to know of our milestone achievements, our setbacks, and our victories for every school, as we continue our mission, to complete the project. Rural students are not just numbers or statistics. Let us not forget who they are and why they are still there.
This website is to provide a clear and transparent, in-depth view, to the progress of this project. Feel free to explore and track all of the 369 rural schools in Sarawak in this interactive website.
These four milestones below explain the steps required to complete this project.

Milestone 1 | Status | |
Feasibility Study Feasibility Study is done for each school to gather data in order to determine the possibility of the project at the selected school. |
Total Connected Load Total Connected Load is the total amount of electricity being used within the survey area at a single time. Data is gathered by identifying the number of electrical appliances of each building. This will determine the right solar solution needed for the school. |
School Layout Detailed location of each building within the school compound. |
Drone Survey Aerial Mapping conducted on the school to extract topography data for the planning of the Solar Sites. |
Connectivity This is to identify which telco service is available at this rural school. |
Verified By Headmaster All the data gathered from the survey will be compiled and must be verified by a School representative (Headmaster / Principal) for verification. |
Submission to Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri Sarawak for Approval The Full Feasibility Study report will be sent to Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri Sarawak for approval and later on proceed to the next phase of the project. |

Submit Solar House Drawing According to School Total Connected Load (TCL) for Approval The Solar House design will be submitted for each school in accordance to the power demand. |
Submit Electrical Power Distribution Drawing for Approval An accurate electrical distribution layout will be prepared according to each school and submitted for approval. |
Submit Cable Routing Drawing for ApprovalThe cable routes for each school will be submitted for approval. This will be how the power is channeled from the batteries to the school. |

Final Inspection of Installation QEOS Engineers will conduct inspection on the quality of installation made by the contractors |
Final Checking & Testing of the System QEOS will also check and test the Solar Hybrid system to ensure all is working and running |
Submission for Inspection Notice to MOE/JKR An inspection notice will be sent to MOE/JKR once the internal check is done |
T&C with the Presence of MOE/JKR QEOS will conduct a meeting regarding terms & conditions with MOE or JKR officials to ensure proper understanding between all parties. |
Partial Occupational CertificationA partial occupational certification will be issued to the school to enable them to operate the system while waiting for the full completion process. |
Submit Notice of CompletionOnce all matters has been inspected and agreed, the notice of Completion will be submitted to MOE. |
